NOTICE OF APTITUDE TEST FOR SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES
This is to inform all candidates that applied for the 2010/2011 PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme (M.Sc) that the list of shortlisted candidates for the APTITUDE TEST in respect of the scholarship award has been published in our website www.ptdf.gov.ng. The APTITUDE TEST will hold in different centres across the country on Saturday March 20, 2010 by 8am.
In addition, notification messages with details of the centres that each shortlisted candidate will sit for the test are being sent to the affected candidates through Electronic Mails and SMS.
Shortlisted candidates are strongly advised to report at the centres indicated in their notifications

with a purchase of a scratch card
from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in all state capitals and FCT upon the payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira only). Instructions on how to access the forms online are clearly stated on the backside of the cards. The forms can also be accessed through the Scholarship Boards of the 36 States of the Federation and Directorate of Education under the FCDA, Abuja on presentation of First Bank Draft (only) with face value of N1,000.
Applicants are hereby advised to note that only those who meet the requirements below shall be shortlisted and invited for an Electronic Aptitude Test for M.Sc and oral interview for PhD applicants on dates and locations that will be announced in due course. PTDF will assist successful candidates in securing admission into suitable M.Sc courses, while the possession of a valid United Kingdom University Admission Letter is compulsory for all PhD applicants.
MSc REQUIREMENTS
1. A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
2. National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
3. Applicants must be computer literate;
4. Possession of O/ level or credit in English language in WAEC,GCE and SSCE; and
5. Applicants must not be above 35 years of age
Applicants without credit in English language as in (4) above but possess any of the following may apply
1. Test of English language as a foreign language (TOEFL)
2. G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination)
3. GMAT – for Management related courses
4. International English Language Testing system (IELTS)
Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach to their online application forms. Please ensure that the size of scanned documents does not exceed 30kb.
1. First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result;
2. NYSC discharge certificate;
3. WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO Results or provide PIN numbers on their application forms to enable PTDF view on the relevant authority’s website; and
4. Recent Passport Photograph.

C. PhD REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must be an Academic, teaching oil and gas related subject;
2. Applicants must possess minimum of 2.2 in first degree and a good second degree certificate;
3. Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection;
4. Applicants must include valid admission letter;
5. Applicants must not be over 40 years of age; and
6. Applicants must include their masters’ degree project.
In addition to the courses listed in (B) above, PhD applicants interested in undertaking research in the
following areas may apply.
1. Geology and Petroleum Geology;
2. Marginal Fields Development;
3. Flow Assurance and Pipeline Geology;
4. Civil and Marine Engineering;
5. Environmental Studies and HSE ( Health, Safety and Environment);
6. Renewable Energy;
7. Reservoir Engineering/Production Technology;
8. Refining Technology;
9. Applied Geophysics;
10. Ship Building and Marine Technology; and
11. Enhanced Oil Recovery.
Please note that recipients of a similar scholarship and former beneficiaries of the PTDF scholarship should not apply.
In due course, qualified applicants will receive sms/email invitation as well as have their names published on PTDF Website (www.ptdf.gov.ng) and some National Dailies for an electronic aptitude test in the case of M.Sc applicants and oral interview for PhD applicants.
